Six-panel comic. Sparky the Eagle is thrilled to learn James the Worm is in a band, but James says they’re still “underground.” A flashback shows their show: a sign reading “Live! Decomposers” and a big arrow pointing at a mound of dirt.

Note: I always have a lot of fun with gags that end with a jump cut to a different perspective or setting. The last panel of this strip was no exception! The sunset scene was fun to make and gives the panel a strangely dramatic vibe, which contrasts well with the muted blues seen in the other panels.

Transcript: Panel 1: Sparky the Eagle sits at a table and waves a wing. A wall clock hangs behind him. James the Worm, a small pink earthworm, sits coiled on the table, humming a tune.

Sparky: “Hello, James!”

James: “What’s good, Beak-bro?”

Panel 2: Sparky looks cheerful. James sits calmly.

Sparky: “We missed you at trivia night yesterday! Where were you?”

James: “Sorry, man… was jammin’ with my band. Catch me?”

Panel 3: Sparky looks wide-eyed and impressed, with an exclamation mark beside his head.

Sparky: “You’re in a BAND? That’s SO cool!”

[Nod nod, from James]

Panel 4: Sparky grins widely, a little starstruck.

Sparky: “I’m friends with a famous person! WOW!”

James: “I don’t know, man…”

Panel 5: Sparky looks puzzled, with a question mark beside his head.

James: “We’re, like, still underground, see…”

Panel 6: Caption: “The night before…” A grassy hill at night, under a starry purple sky with a glowing sunset behind it. A sign reads “LIVE! Decomposers,” and a big lit-up red arrow points down at a small mound of dirt. The mound shakes, with a musical note rising from it.
